A privately held natural gas producer operating across multiple onshore fields in Central Africa.
The Opportunity
The client faced severe integrity challenges with aging flowlines and processing plant piping in a high-corrosion, high-humidity environment. Corrosion under insulation (CUI) and microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) were accelerating failures, leading to frequent leaks, unplanned shutdowns, and heightened safety and environmental risks. Limited local technical expertise and logistical constraints made traditional inspection methods costly and inefficient
The Solution
We deployed a Tailored, Data-Driven Integrity Management Framework specifically designed for remote operations. The solution combined targeted ultrasonic and radiographic testing with a centralized corrosion management database. We implemented a risk-based inspection (RBI) program and introduced remote monitoring sensors at critical locations to track wall thickness and coating health in real time, minimizing the need for extensive physical site visits.
The Impact
50% reduction in integrity-related shutdowns and pipeline leaks in the first year. Extended asset life by 5–7 years for high-risk piping through proactive corrosion mitigation. Achieved full compliance with regional regulatory standards and enhanced the client’s environmental and safety reputation.
